La Mirada Library Volunteers
LIBRARY CORNER
Among programs for adults is the popular book club entitled “The You Had Me At Book Club.” This group meets the fourth Wednesday of the month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the library’s meeting room. No pre-registration is required. Programs for children include Preschool Storytime, Family Storytime, and Read to the Dogs (yes, children read to dogs!). All three programs have art activities as part of the program.
Fall also brings the return of a Family Place Parent/Child Workshops. This is a series of playtimes for babies and toddlers up to three years of age and their adult parents/caregivers. Each session features a local resource professional to answer parents’ questions and concerns. Registration is required.
Also for kids: watch for the return of Chess for Kids, Bricks for Kids (with LEGO building blocks), and Family Game Night.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Friends of the Library are people who care about libraries and are interested in increasing awareness of the library in their communities. Friends of the Library support the library by book sales, sponsor and staff library events and help recruit volunteers. Friends of the Library are self-supporting, holding meetings governed by a constitution and by-laws, electing officers, and maintaining their own financial records.
