Biola University campus, is highlighted in an Architectural Digest article about the changing face of campus housing. Blackstone Hall is a LEED-certified green building and specially designed to enhance community building. Co-ed community lobbies on each floor and an in-building dining facility make for a community-oriented experience. The Los Angeles office of Gensler designed Blackstone Hall, a four-story residence hall, mediates between the modernist campus and the adjacent residential fabric of California bungalows. For the school’s growing student body, the design strikes a creative balance between maximizing capacity and making room for amenity spaces. Along with 350 beds and community bathrooms paired with predominantly double-occupancy rooms, the residence hall incorporates generous common areas on each floor for live-learn collaborative study. Amenities include a café, meeting room/classroom, roof terrace, outdoor amphitheater, basketball and volleyball courts and a fire pit. The facility serves coffee, breakfast and grilled foods until one a.m. Click here to read the entire Architectural Digest article.
