A Carpenter’s Christmas – November 24 La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts invites you to attend A Carpenter’s Christmas on November 24th at 8 pm. The feel-good music of the season! Based on The Carpenters beloved holiday albums and Christmas variety shows, A Carpenters Christmas features “Merry Christmas, Darling,” the jazzy “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” and all the hits. Singer and playwright Lisa Rock and her 6-piece band are keeping The Carpenters holiday traditions alive, bringing their unforgettable Christmas songs together in a warm-hearted concert that spreads joy and cheer to all. Biola University Annual Christmas Tree Lighting – November 30 Biola’s Alumni and Parent Relations invite you to the 2018 Biola University Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, November 30, 2018. There will be a Christmas Fair from 4:30 – 9 pm in the Bell Tower Walkway. Enjoy live handbell carols as you stroll through various vendors looking for some early Christmas presents for your friends and family. The tree lighting ceremony will be from 7 – 8 pm in the Metzger Lawn. This is a free event for the entire community. The Ten Tenors – December 1 La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts invites you to attend The TEN Tenors on December 1st at 2 pm. Come Home for the Holidays with The TEN Tenors. With a generous mix of festive favorites and modern holidays hits, The TEN Tenors will walk you through a musical winter wonderland that truly captures the essence of the Holidays for the whole family, as well as many of the rock and classical songs that have made this group world famous. Chili Holiday Celebration – December 1 Celebrate the holiday season with family and friends at the annual Chili Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 1 from 5 to 8 pm at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center. The festivities will include live entertainment, free chili, hot dogs, warm drinks, and cookies. Families can participate in the Tree Lighting Ceremony, snow sledding, and photos with Santa. Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and unwrapped toys to the event to support local families in need. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Holiday Wreath Auction benefiting the La Mirada Community Foundation. Decorated wreaths graciously donated by local businesses and non-profit organizations will be available for auction[/vc_column_text][vc_video link="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj1Tu3IhTCY"][vc_column_text]The Magic of Christmas – December 6 – 16 Join The Young American’s as all 250 cast members come together to turn La Mirada Theatre into a winter wonderland and bring holiday cheer to theatre-goers of all ages. The Magic of Christmas features state of the art 45-foot LED walls, over 6,000 costumes, and 30 festive scene changes. Creatively produced and choreographed, these ‘fun for the whole family’ musical numbers range from hip-hopping penguins, dancing Santas, and The Nutcracker Suite, to Toyland, The Polar Express and Christmas choral music including Handel’s Messiah. Performances run from December 6th through December 16th. Holiday Toy and Food Drive – November 1 – December 14 Spread holiday cheer to those in need during the La Mirada Holiday Toy and Food Drive taking place Thursday, November 1 through Friday, December 14. Donations of new unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items will be collected and distributed to local organizations. Bring donations to any of the designated drop off locations and help make this a season of giving. Drop off locations:

Donated items will be distributed to the following organizations: La Mirada Volunteer Center, Interfaith Food Center, Grace Evangelical Free Church, St. Paul of the Cross Church and Beatitudes of Our Lord Church. Show Holiday Spirit by Decorating your Home – December 1 – December 12 The City’s annual Holiday Home Decorating Program is fast approaching! Residents are encouraged to decorate their homes and help spread holiday cheer throughout the city. No entry is needed to participate, every decorated home in La Mirada will be considered for recognition. Judging will take place on Saturday, December 1 through Wednesday, December 12. Winners will be selected in the categories of Most Original, Best Use of Lights, and Best Holiday Scene. Winners will be announced on the City’s website and will receive a holiday ornament. Biola Conservatory of Music Annual Christmas Concert – December 7 Join Biola’s Conservatory of Music at their Annual Christmas concert, The Light Has Come. The multi-venue evening will highlight the Conservatory ensembles in three spaces around campus and will conclude with an acoustic candlelight carol sing in front of the music building. A Choral Christmas – The newly renovated Calvary Chapel and its spectacular acoustics will sing with the Christmas choral music of the Biola University Chorale, Men’s and Women’s Choruses. A Classical Instrumental Christmas – Crowell Hall will feature the joyful, traditional sounds of Christmas from String Ensemble and the Symphonic Winds. A Contemporary Christmas – Sutherland Auditorium will feature the energized, modern sounds of the Biola Jazz Combo and Worship/Popular Music Ensemble. Nutcracker – Santa Barbara’s State Street Ballet – December 22 This most beloved holiday classic comes to vibrant life in the acclaimed production from Santa Barbara’s State Street Ballet! The majestic sounds of Tchaikovsky’s legendary score are matched by sumptuous sets & costumes. Join young Clara on a magical adventure with her Nutcracker Prince, as she travels through the beautiful Land of the Snowflakes to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Kingdom of Sweets. Humor, virtuosic dancing, and breathtaking choreography create a richly beautiful performance to delight audiences of all ages!
