Adaptive Programs Available this Season

Seasonal Card Making – 8 weeks (Ages 18 and up) Participants will learn how to create seasonal cards. A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor and due on the first day of class at the Activity Center. To enroll in the class and for more information, please call CAPC at 562-693- 8823 Ext. 3030. Adaptive Artful Expressions – 3 weeks (Ages 4 to 12) This is a fun, open-ended art class designed for children on the Autism Spectrum and their siblings. Children can explore various art materials which will provide an opportunity for sensory and creative experiences. A $10 cash materials fee is payable to instructor at first class meeting at the Resource Center. Adult attendance required. Instructor: Jackie Ferraro Special Olympics “Top Flight on ICE” – 4 weeks (All Ages) This class at East West Ice Palace in Artesia is specifically designed for the Special Needs Community. All skaters will learn to skate with a qualified instructor. Skaters will learn to skate forward and backward and gain confidence to skate on their own. Class fee includes skate rental, a half-hour of instruction and free practice session on your registered class day. Instructor: East West Ice Palace Adaptive Swim Class – 4 weeks (Ages 4 to 18) This class at Splash! La Mirada is designed for students who can function in a 3 to 1 student to instructor ratio. Students who need additional assistance are welcome to attend with an accompanying adult. Private classes available. Prerequisite: Starfish Swim School. Adaptive Zumba – 4 weeks (Ages 12 to 21) This fun-filled fitness program at the Activity Center, with very simple and easy to follow moves inspired by Latin dance, hip-hop and other rhythms, creates an aerobic routine to target calorie output, fat burning, and toning. No class 1/21. Instructor: Maria (Pilar) Lopez La Mirada’s Community Services Department will provide reasonable accommodations in recreation programs and facilities to enable participation by individuals with disabilities.
