California Science Center proudly presents the world premiere of KING TUT: TREASURES OF THE GOLDEN PHARAOH–the largest King Tut exhibition ever toured! Discover over 150 authentic artifacts from King Tut’s celebrated tomb–60 of which have never traveled outside of Egypt, until now. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime exhibition closing in January 2019. In a dramatic new presentation, dazzling multimedia complements rare artifacts to take guests on an immersive journey of the pharaoh’s quest for immortality. Examine exquisite rings found on King Tut’s fingers, opulent jewelry that adorned his body, and the gold sandals placed on his feet upon burial. Discover how the scientific analysis of King Tut’s 3,300-year-old mummy has revealed new information about his health and lineage, and how cutting-edge technologies have played a role in discovering new tombs and analyzing existing ones in ways never before imagined. King Tut’s tomb contained more than 5,000 objects—an unprecedented amount of treasures—and remains the most intact royal tomb ever found in Egypt. The tomb was particularly well hidden in the Valley of the Kings, which prevented the pillaging and taking of objects that befell other tombs, and was nearly untouched when discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. The tomb has provided a unique window into Egyptian burial and religious practices. And the objects found within it have had a profound impact on researchers’ understanding of the beliefs and cultural practices of the ancient Egyptians. KING TUT: TREASURES OF THE GOLDEN PHARAOH will give visitors a firsthand look at more than 150 of these important and exquisite artifacts. The Egyptian government has said that this will be the last time the King Tut treasures will tour the world. Ticket sales are helping to finalize the permanent King Tut wing at the Grand Egyptian Museum, which will be the largest archaeological museum in the world. The wing will be dedicated to a comprehensive display of King Tut’s treasures, serving as the ultimate final home for his legacy.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0waZs7rbtVY"][vc_column_text]Enjoy Mysteries of Egypt on our 7–story IMAX® screen!
