The La Mirada Library invites you to participate in free hands-on learning to include computer coding, robotics, engineering, and science. MakMo vehicles, supported by the LA County Library system, are a delivery system to support makerspaces and promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs. These vehicles travel throughout LA County to bring creative programming to the local communities like La Mirada. Here are two classes coming up in the next month.
MakMo – Mega Marble Run
Thursday, January 17th (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm)
Do you have the need for speed? Come build a marble run that twists, turns, races, and spins marbles at incredible velocity! This program is for kids ages 5-12.
MakMo – Binary Bracelets
Wednesday, February 6th (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm)
Computers represent all information as a series of zeros and ones, and this binary code is at the heart of almost everything we do. Come make a bracelet with a secret message only you and your computer can read! This program is suitable for grades 6-12.
Another hands-on program available is La Mirada Library’s It’s Block Building Time! They supply the building blocks, you provide the creativity and engineering skills! The program is on the 3rd Friday of each month from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm. These building blocks are appropriate for children ages 4 and up.
