The City of La Mirada has opened registration for spring and summer youth and adult community non-competitive sports leagues. Men and women of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in these leagues. Young children get an introduction to sports, learn teamwork, and develop skills in a fun, safe environment. Volley-Tennis (Ages 7 to 8)
If you are 7-8 years old and want to play volleyball, this is a great place to start! The net is lower and the ball may bounce, making it easier for players to learn. This league will be a fun introduction for children new to volleyball. Games will be played on either Saturday or Sunday afternoons in the Community Gymnasium. Each player receives a team t-shirt. Practice begins the week of April 1. The league games run from April 13 – June 2.

The City of La Mirada’s Youth Volleyball program is designed for recreational play. Volunteer coaches emphasize skills such as passing, setting, serving, and teamwork. Everyone plays! Games will be played on either Saturday or Sunday afternoons in the Community Gymnasium. Each player receives a team t-shirt. Practice begins the week of April 1. The league games run from April 13 – June 2.
Friday Night Football (Ages 5-14)
Friday Night Football enhances the flag football style of play with less contact and no blocking. The quick strike, high scoring offensive philosophy will help develop skills and allow for a fun, safe environment to play and enjoy the game of football. All games are played Friday evenings at Behringer Park. Practice begins the week of April 1. League games run from April 12 – May 31.
Youth Basketball League (Ages 5-17)
The City of La Mirada’s Youth Basketball program is a non-competitive league designed for recreational play. Volunteer coaches will teach the fundamentals of the sport, emphasizing teamwork, passing, dribbling, and other ball skills. Everyone plays! Each player receives a team t-shirt. Practices are scheduled to begin the week of June 10. The league takes place in the Community Gymnasium and runs from June 22 – August 11.
Youth Futsal (Indoor Soccer) League (Ages 5-13)
The City of La Mirada’s Youth Futsal program is a non-competitive league designed for recreational play. Volunteer coaches will teach the fundamentals of the sport, emphasizing teamwork, passing, dribbling and other ball skills. Everyone plays! Each player receives a team t-shirt. Practices are scheduled to begin the week of June 10. The league takes place in the Community Gymnasium and runs from June 22 – August 11.
Adult Basketball League (Ages 18 and up)
The City of La Mirada is pleased to offer our popular Adult Basketball League on Monday and Thursday evenings. Space is limited. Team registration fee is $375 per team. Teams are responsible for an additional $25 cash per game for referees. Games are generally an hour long starting at 6:30 pm. Walk-in registrations only. Senior Hoops (Ages 50 and up)
Have some fun playing basketball with other seniors at the Community Gym. Men and women of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in this ongoing program. A discounted Senior Annual Gym Membership ($35) or a day pass must be purchased. For more information, please contact the Gym at (562) 902-2938. Takes place from 6-9am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Hours are subject to change.
Volunteer Coaches Needed
Volunteer coaches are the backbone of youth sports in the City of La Mirada. Without the committed hard work of our volunteer coaches, local youth would not have the quality, one-of-a-kind sports programs you see in La Mirada.
Continue to help make a difference in your community by signing up to be a volunteer youth league coach. Becoming a volunteer coach is easy. Stop by any City of La Mirada facility and fill out a Volunteers In Action application. Specify what sport you would like to coach. Coaching opportunities available for basketball, volleyball/volley-tennis, futsal indoor soccer, and flag football.
