La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts invites you to enjoy an evening with award-winning Broadway star and international concert artist James Barbour. He’s back – by popular demand! The star of our smash Les Misérables makes his triumphant return to La Mirada Theatre on Saturday, May 18th in a private evening of glorious music featuring his spectacular, unforgettable voice. Fresh from his Broadway run as The Phantom of the Opera, this remarkable actor and international concert artist takes us on an inspiring song-filled journey of show-tune classics and pop hits that highlight his award-winning performance style.
Those who saw him in our Les Misérables or more recently starring as Edward Rutledge in the Tony-winning musical 1776 can’t forget him; those who discover him for the first time will remember him always.
James Barbour starred as “The Phantom” in Broadway’s longest-running musical The Phantom Of The Opera. He also starred on Broadway in A Tale Of Two Cities (Sydney Carton) for which he was nominated for Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards for Best Actor, Carousel (Billy Bigelow), Jane Eyre (Rochester, Drama League Award Nomination), Beauty And The Beast (Beast), Urinetown (Lockstock), Assassins (Czolgosz), and Cyrano The Musical. He starred as ‘Lancelot’ in Camelot opposite Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons (both on Broadway at The Shubert Theatre and at the Hollywood Bowl) and as ‘Lancelot’ opposite Michael York (National Tour). He also played ‘Bill Sykes’ in Oliver opposite Brian Stokes Mitchell and Melissa Errico on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre. James recently won the LA Ovation Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables.
Television and film credits to Mr. Barbour’s name include Alchemy, Adam Sandler’s Eight Crazy Nights, Ed, Sex In The City, Just Shoot Me, The District, That’s Life, The Game, Some Enchanted Evening, The American Experience John And Abigail Adams. His voice can be heard on the recordings of Jane Eyre, Assassins, Broadway In Concert, The Gift, Frank Wildhorn’s Dracula, Tears From heaven, A Gift Of Christmas and his latest release, Bring Me Giants was voted in the top 10 by TheatreMania alongside Tony Bennet, Barbara Streisand and more. He is an international concert artist who travels the globe presenting his concert series, The Holiday Concert, Broadway In Concert, Love Songs.
Mr. Barbour is considered one of the most sought-after performers on Broadway today. He is on the A-list of actors asked to develop new works for the industry’s leading writers and composers including Elton John, Bernie Taupin, Frank Wildhorn, and Christopher Durang to name a few. He is currently developing a new musical concert called The Romantics.
