La Mirada’s annual Independence Day celebration event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 3 at La Mirada Regional Park. Celebrate the nation with a day of fun and fireworks with friends and family at La Mirada’s largest community event. Participants will enjoy live musical entertainment, games and activities for children of all ages, and a variety of food and treats sold by local service organizations. The festivities will conclude with a patriotic program and fireworks show starting at approximately 9 p.m.
La Mirada’s annual Independence Day celebration has been a community tradition for many years. In 1985, The Kiwanis Club of La Mirada organized and held an Independence Day celebration event at La Mirada High School’s Goodman Stadium. The event was held every year on July 4th until 1992 when it was moved to July 3rd; with the idea that it would allow the Kiwanis and City of La Mirada organizers to spend the 4th of July holiday with their families at home. The Kiwanis Club of La Mirada would continue to host the event for 18-years.
In 2004, the City of La Mirada began hosting the celebration and returned it to La Mirada Regional Park, its birthplace. The safe, family-fun regional event attracts up to 20,000 people annually.
