There is no shortage of Halloween fun for families in La Mirada this week. From annual traditions around town to library screenings and activities, the community has events that every kid and parent will enjoy. Here are a few events you won’t want to miss.

Pajama Party Movie Night – Maleficent
Tuesday, October 29th – (5:30 pm – 7:30 pm)
Put on your favorite pair of PJs because it’s time for a movie night at the La Mirada Library. As a beautiful young woman of pure heart, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) has an idyllic life in a forest kingdom. When an invading army threatens the land, Maleficent rises up to become its fiercest protector. However, a terrible betrayal hardens her heart and twists her into a creature bent on revenge. She engages in an epic battle with the invading king’s successor, then curses his newborn daughter, Aurora — realizing only later that the child holds the key to peace in the kingdom. For families with children 3 – 17 years old. Movie nights are generously sponsored by the Friends of La Mirada Library. MPAA Rating: PG; parental guidance suggested.

Costume Parade Storytime
Wednesday, October 30th – (11:00 am – 11:30 am)
Join us for a special Storytime where toddlers and their adults are welcome to dress-up in their favorite costumes to enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes together. After Storytime, we’ll have a costume parade in the Civic Center quad, where toddlers can visit some of La Mirada’s resource buildings to receive a treat! This program is sponsored by the Friends of La Mirada Library in cooperation with the City of La Mirada. For toddlers ages 18 months – 3 years old with active caregiver participation.

Enjoy some snacks and candy while working on your pumpkin and watch the classic movie Hocus Pocus! Pumpkins and refreshments sponsored by Friends of the La Mirada Library. For teens grades 6 – 12.

Halloweenfest

The Halloween festivities include a haunted maze, trick-or-treat area, games, crafts, and costume contests! Participants may collect candy at the various games and craft booths throughout the night. This family event is perfect for all ages and pets. Pets are welcome to attend and participate in a costume contest too! Supplies are limited, so arrive early. Hot Dog on a Stick and Kettle Masters will be on-site making food available for purchase.

Candyland
Thursday, October 31st – (5:00 pm – 8:00 pm)
Candyland has become a well-loved community favorite. For those who are new to Biola or have not heard of Candyland before, the women of Alpha Hall (the all-female hall on campus), transform their dorm into “Candyland” based on the children’s board game with the same name. They invite the Biola community to join the hundreds of families from the surrounding area, to come and trick-or-treat through each floor of Alpha. There will also be fun games, face painting, and a whole community of students dressed up as characters for children to interact with.
