REVIEW: Frozen took La Mirada Theatre by Storm

The musical is a must-see, boasting an experience best described as magical

The acclaimed story of Frozen took the La Mirada Theatre by storm in its weekend debut. Even the snowy backdrop and Elsa’s icy magical powers could not stop this production from warmly touching theatergoers’ hearts. Powerful solos, angelic harmonies, and a lively dose of dance tell the story of how sisters Anna and Elsa overcame isolation, loneliness, and fear by loving one another.

Jenna Lea Rosen as “Elsa” captured the stage with soaring vocals, bringing her a standing ovation midway through the show. With stunning stage presence, she carried the beloved soundtrack to new heights through her emotional portrayal of love, hurt, sisterhood, and sacrifice. Elsa’s magical power to create snow and ice was no match for McCoy Rigby Entertainment’s design team. Perfectly timed visuals, dynamic props, and orchestral arrangements magically transformed the stage into a glittering, frozen landscape. And this grandeur was just the beginning. Cailen Fu as “Anna” enchanted the audience with her bubbly performance, all the while inspiring true love through her warmhearted melodies and joyful expressions of sisterly devotion.

Living up to its numerous awards, La Mirada Theatre brought exceptional puppetry to the stage alongside its phenomenal performers and visuals. Playful puppeteering of Olaf, the happy-go-lucky snowman, and Sven, the goofy reindeer, brought these heartwarming characters to life, and the humor continued through comedic playwriting, slapstick choreography, and jovial songs. The second act opened with the spirited, Broadway-original “Hygge,” a lively explanation of the Danish word for comfort and contentment. Humming and dancing in their chairs, it is without a doubt that the audience left the theatre with this same sense of hygge in their heart.

La Mirada Theatre’s production of Frozen brings unmatched dazzle to this highly praised story. Breathtaking, joyful, and heartwarming, the musical is a must-see, boasting an experience best described as magical.
