La Mirada City Council Dedicates
City Hall Fountain Plaza

Redesigned plaza preserves fountain’s signature waterfall

The City of La Mirada celebrated the unveiling of its newly renovated City Hall Fountain Plaza during a dedication ceremony held on October 30. The redesigned plaza preserves the fountain’s signature cascading waterfall while introducing modern enhancements, including new geyser fountains in the upper and lower pools, programmable LED lighting, decorative design features, upgraded landscaping, and state-of-the-art plumbing and electrical systems. The refreshed space also includes an expanded plaza offering ample room for gatherings with scenic views of the upper fountain, La Mirada Boulevard, and Biola University’s athletic fields.

Originally constructed more than 55 years ago as part of the City Hall campus, the fountain was recently shut down due to ongoing plumbing and electrical challenges. The City Council approved a modern design that reduced the pool areas by nearly 60 percent and incorporated new landscape planters and shaded decking. The project also replaced pumps, filters, pipes, and electrical systems with durable, energy-efficient equipment to ensure long-term sustainability.

“The renovated City Hall fountain restores one of La Mirada’s most recognizable landmarks,” said Senior Administrative Analyst Tony Moreno, who oversaw the project. “This new space complements the Civic Center Plaza and will be enjoyed by the community for years to come.”

Residents and visitors are invited to visit the City Hall Fountain Plaza daily between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. to experience the revitalized space. Holiday decorations will be added by the end of November, bringing a festive touch to the season.
