La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts invites you to the Donny and Marie Summer 2018 tour coming to La Mirada for two performances on July 25th & 26th at 7:30 pm. Tickets go on sale March 23rd at 10 am.
America’s beloved sibling entertainers will bring their show to La Mirada Theatre this summer. Their only two performances in the Los Angeles area. Donny and Marie mix the spirit of their early television specials and recordings with a nostalgic look back on their storied career in a dynamic stage show showcasing fan favorites including “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n Roll,” “Paper Roses,” “Puppy Love” and “It Takes Two.”
The brother-and-sister duo is well-known for their variety show, Donny & Marie, which aired on ABC from 1976 to 1979. Donny and Marie Osmond’s legacy as entertainers dates back far longer than that, though. Both appeared on singer Andy Williams’ television show in the ’60s. Williams had been regularly featuring their older brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay after Walt Disney first discovered them harmonizing at his theme park and cast them in a televised special. Williams, who co-headlined the Flamingo with comedian Joe E. Lewis in 1957, brought Donny on at age 5 to sing a jazzy version of “You Are My Sunshine,” while Marie made her debut on the program at age 3.
Both also enjoyed successful solo careers as singers and actors. They have collectively recorded 142 albums, selling over 100 million copies with 51 Gold and Platinum recordings. They have starred in their own television series, specials, documentaries and numerous programs throughout the world. Collectively and individually, they have sold out venues worldwide, breaking box office records and received countless awards.
In addition to doing concerts in America and around the world, Donny and Marie continue an extraordinary run at the legendary Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. They were named Best Show by the Las Vegas Review-Journal for three years in a row. Entertainment Weekly raved that their live performance is “INSANELY ENTERTAINING. A song and dance spectacular.”
