As we head into spring, there are plenty of dance classes available for all ages through the City of La Mirada. From ballet to hip hop dance, these programs will keep bodies fit and improve dance and performance skills. Click here to learn more about these and other classes available.
Pre-Ballet (Ages 3 to 4)
Introduction into the wonderful world of dance! Fundamentals of ballet and movement are explored in an active, playful and fun group setting. Basic tap is provided for rhythm. Comfortable dance attire recommended. Instructor: Cristina Barrie Location: Resource Center
Ballet and Tap (Ages 2 to 8)
Come join Parenting Magazine’s award winner for ‘Best Dance.’ Children will learn the basics of ballet and tap in a fun, positive and rewarding environment. Child must bring ballet shoes, tap shoes and any leotard/tutu will do. Instructor: Freckled Frog Location: Gymnasium & Resource Center
Mommy and Me Ballet (Ages 2 to 4)
This class is designed for the youngest of Mrs. Cristina’s ballerinas. Come and enjoy with your child the wonderful world of dance! Parent participation required. Comfortable clothing recommended. Instructor: Cristina Barrie Location: Resource Center
Beginning Ballet (Ages 5 to 8)
For continuing students or newcomers, this is a progressive class focusing on more advanced elements of ballet and tap. Instructor: Cristina Barrie Location: Resource Center
Hip Hop Dance (Ages 6 to 12)
Your child will have a great time learning hip hop dance moves and routines. All music has been edited for appropriateness. Comfortable clothing and sneakers will be helpful. No jeans, please. Instructor: Shannon Yorba Location: Gymnasium
Royal All-Stars – Dance Program (Ages 5 to 18)
‘Royal All-Stars’ is a dance and performance team for girls and boys wanting to improve their dance and performance skills. Students will learn jazz, hip hop and pom routines as well as tumbling. The program is great for individuals who want to dance and belong to a team. The team will perform at City events, shows and participate in competitions. If you want a dance studio experience or to prepare for a middle school cheer team, you are encouraged to join! The team is taught by award-winning choreographer Bianca Hallock. Location: Gymnasium
Adult Basic Ballet (Ages 16 and up)
Whether you have a background in dance or have always been curious to learn, come join us for a lovely evening of ballet, music and camaraderie. Comfortable clothing recommended. Instructor: Cristina Barrie Location: Resource Center
Belly Dance (Ages 13 and up)
Escape with this fun fitness and energizing form of dance. Burn calories, reduce stress and increase self-esteem while you trim and tone your body with graceful movements from the ancient art of belly dance. Instructor: Fahtiem Location: Resource Center
