City of La Mirada offering five classes on the basics about horsemanship

While we’re already entering into the month of July, there is still plenty of time to horse around this summer. Want to learn more about how to care for horses? Have you always wanted to learn the basics of horsemanship and riding? The City of La Mirada is offering classes from toddlers to adults. Small class sizes and outstanding professional instruction ensure a fun, educational, and safe equestrian experience. Classes take place at El Rodeo Equestrian Center in Brea. Cowboy & Cowgirl CampStarting July 10th (Ages 5 to 12)
Join us at the ranch for two days of horse fun! Meet new friends, ride horses, wash horses, rope a wild steer (pretend cow), nature hike and crafts. Please wear closed toed shoes (boots are safest), jeans, and riding safety helmet. $20 materials fee payable to instructor at first meeting.

Fun on the FarmStarting July 19th (Ages 1½ to 6)
Bring your parent to the farm. Together you’ll learn about funny farm animals, create a farm craft and ride a real pony each week. Bring a bike helmet and wear closed-toe shoes. Parent participation is required.

Horse Fun for PreschoolersStarting July 20th (Ages 3 to 6)
Bring your parent to help you learn about horses! We will learn to halter, groom, saddle, feed, walk, stop, and turn a real live horse. Bring a bike helmet and wear closed-toe shoes. Parent participation is required.

Horse Fun for Kids – Starting July 20th (Ages 7 to 12)
Join this fun class and learn the basics about horsemanship and riding, saddling, haltering, feeding, grooming, and riding. Bring a bike helmet and wear closed-toe shoes.

Horse Fun for AdultsStarting July 20th (Ages 13 and up)
Learn the art of basic riding and learn all about horses in a fun-filled atmosphere. We will learn to halter, groom, saddle, feed, walk, stop, turn, mount, and dismount. Safety helmets provided or bring your own bike helmet.
