Come to the La Mirada Library and enjoy a free live concert from artist Carolina Hoyos – A Girl I Know on Wednesday, July 17th from 6-7 pm. All ages welcome.
Stage and film actress and director Carolina Hoyos was born in Washington, DC. and raised in nearby Fairfax, Virginia. She is a first generation Peruvian Quechua-Inca Afro-Latina. Her childhood as a competitive classical concert pianist and elementary school chorus accompanist was enriched with acting and directing after she played a ship captain in her 1st grade play. Her days quickly filled up with local commercials and theater as well as hosting and performing on DC/MD/VA cable access show U.S. KIDS. While in her 1st year studying theater at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in NYC, she launched her TV career on MTV HITS, appearing on the pop culture talk show for 3 seasons.
She splits her time between acting/writing/directing for stage and film and releasing records as singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist A Girl I Know. She also sings as Antonella in Nicolas Winding Refyn’s Amazon series Too Old To Die Young and has shared the stage with Eddie Van Halen, Ryan Adams, and Guns N’ Roses. Her latest EP (The Lost Tapes) was released in 2016. Her first Spanish language release will include translations of her two EP releases as a full-length album in 2019. A classical pianist since the age of two, Carolina performs soul, jazz, and pop with a 60’s girl-group influence. As a multi-instrumentalist, no two A Girl I Know shows are ever the same. A fan of choose-your-own-adventure-stories, Carolina gives her fans a chance to vote for these variables on her social media outlets leading up to each performance.
This concert is made possible through an LA County Arts Commission Grant provided by Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn.
