La Mirada’s annual National Night Out event is scheduled for Thursday, August 8th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at La Mirada Regional Park during next weeks Concert Under the Stars featuring The Country Club. Come meet members of La Mirada’s Public Safety team, visit information booths and learn about the City’s anti-crime programs.
The National Association of Town Watch sponsors National Night Out, which celebrates the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and quality of life as its top priority. National Night Out is a community-building campaign designed to enhance participation in local anti-crime programs, and strengthen partnerships between the community and law enforcement.
“National Night Out promotes police-community partnerships,” says Sergeant John Denney. “Working together is essential in addressing public safety issues and keeping La Mirada a safe community.”
Representatives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, La Mirada Public Safety Team, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and the Neighborhood Watch Program will attend the event and provide information. Free fingerprinting for kids will also be available at the Public Safety booth.
La Mirada’s Public Safety Team encourages residents to join others across the country on Tuesday, August 6, by spending the evening outdoors and getting to know their neighbors. Knowing your neighbors and working together is an effective way to prevent crime.
Below are simple ways to celebrate National Night Out:
- Start a Neighborhood Watch group
- Have a potluck
- Create a block list for people and pets
- Welcome new residents
- Hold a scavenger hunt
The Public Safety team will be visiting as many neighborhood gatherings as possible on Tuesday, August 6th. If you would like them to stop by, contact La Mirada’s Public Safety team at (562) 902-2960 or email at mcipres@cityoflamirada.org to provide the time and location of your gathering.
