Offering a wide variety of programs and activities for youth and older adults

The La Mirada Activity Center features a large library and reading area, game room, meeting rooms, and large multipurpose room for group functions, rental events, and daily nutritious lunch for seniors. This important source of entertainment and education offers a variety of activities such as dances, computer courses, cooking, billiards, bingo, free educational lectures, and seminars. A variety of recreational activities are available at the Center. Programs at the activity center include:

Activities & Fitness
During the week the Activity Center hosts activities such as Billards, Mahjong, Hatha Yoga, Dominos, Tai Chi, Rummy, Bridge, Painting, Piano and many others.

La Mirada SeniorNet Learning Center
SeniorNet Learning Centers offer computer classes that are specifically designed for adults 50 and older, with little or no computer knowledge. It offers a low-cost, friendly introduction to using computers. SeniorNet’s basic curriculum is comprised of courses on Personal Computer Basics, an Introduction to the use of Computer Applications, an Introduction to Navigating the Internet, including E-mail, and an Introduction to Word Processing and being productive with a Personal Computer.

Health and Wellness

Nutrition/Lunch Programs
Café on the Green – SASSFA Lunch Program serves nutritionally balanced hot lunches for older adults 60 years and older Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

La Mirada Meals on Wheels motto: “Service with Friendship” is carried out by caring volunteers who use their own cars and fuel in order to help clients.

La Mirada Senior Council
The senior council purpose is the coordination and development of leisure time activities for senior citizens, planning for and providing of satisfactory recreation facilities and programs for senior citizens, evaluation and planning of human service delivery systems – defined as human service contract services and senior services, and assist with identifying possible service overlap and gaps.

Social Services
The La Mirada Activity Center offers SASSFA counseling, information on social security benefits, tax-preparation assistance, home delivered food, and homeowner’s assistance with yard work.

Information & Referral
The Activity Center is a one-stop center for information on recreational, educational and social service resources provided by the City of La Mirada or offered by partner agencies in the community. Stop by and receive information on substance abuse services, counseling services, housing services, and much more!

Employment Referral
Temporary, part-time and full-time permanent job listings are available for viewing to La Mirada residents ages 16 and above. No application or appointment is necessary for adults. Call (562) 902-7277 for more information.

Special Events
Throughout the year, the La Mirada Activity Center hosts several special events.

All That Dance: Enjoy live entertainment provided by Jim Gilman and Associates that will make you get up and dance! The dance is $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling the Activity Center at (562) 902- 3160. Ages 18+

Birthday Celebration: Join us for your birthday and Café on the Green! Birthday cake will be provided through the sponsorship of Mirada Hills.
