The La Mirada Library invites you to attend free blockbuster movies for kids at the library all summer long. This Tuesday’s movie features the fantasy-musical classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in their Pajama Party Movie Night series for children. So grab your friends and family to enjoy movies at the library. Movie nights are generously sponsored by the Friends of the La Mirada Library.
The world is astounded when Willy Wonka, for years a recluse in his factory, announces that five lucky people will be given a tour of the factory, shown all the secrets of his amazing candy, and one will win a lifetime supply of Wonka chocolate. Nobody wants the prize more than young Charlie, but as his family is so poor that buying even one bar of chocolate is a treat, buying enough bars to find one of the five golden tickets is unlikely in the extreme. But in movieland, magic can happen. Charlie, along with four somewhat odious other children, get the chance of a lifetime and a tour of the factory. Along the way, mild disasters befall each of the odious children, but can Charlie beat the odds and grab the brass ring?
Ed Grant of Common Sense Media states “Parents need to know that overall Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is an excellent, imaginative family film. While it doesn’t have any content that would be considered inappropriate for kids, author Roald Dahl’s signature dark humor is evident. There are a few scary/tense scenes that may disturb younger or more sensitive children.”
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released in June 1971. MPAA Rating: G; general audiences. For families with children 3 – 17 years old.
Enjoy Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory this Tuesday, July 9th from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm.
